My weekly limit on Claude Max has been hit in three days.

So I started building instead of just researching.

What I ended up with is a script. One line to run it.

Under the hood its hitting a Weaviate vector database with 1066 chunks of everything Ive built and learned. It does semantic math to find only whats relevant to what Im working on right now. Then it compresses the output before it ever touches Claudes context window.

Old way / new way.

Dump the entire project into the prompt and hope Claude finds what its looking for.

Run one script, ask one question, get back only whats actualy related. Already compressed. 76% fewer tokens.

Three months ago I didnt know what a vector database was.

Now theres one running on my server handling context retrival for every session I start.

1536 dimensions / compressed to 384.

That compression is what I was trying to describe when I said "vector compress my prompts." I just didnt know how to build it yet.

The pace of learning when you commit to building instead of consuming is genuinley hard to explain.

I wasnt sure what I was actualy trying to build. I just knew the problem.

Well I built it.

Before / 76% fewer tokens.

Its a semantic context retrival system. Sounds complicated. Its not.

A vector database on my server with 1066 chunks of project knowledge. Every time I start a session I run one script and it finds only whats relevant. Compresses everything before it hits the context window.

Costs nothing to run. Runs in under a second.

The thing I was trying to describe when I wrote that post actualy excists now. The research became the build.

Thats where I am three months into this jouney.

So I went researching. Read papers about how language models actually process prompts. How the beginning and end of your context window matter more than the middle. How everything underneath it is just measuring distance between words in high dimensional space.

I wrote about wanting to "vector compress" my prompts.

This week I built it.

A vector database with 1066 chunks of everything Ive built indexed as 384 dimension embeddings. A script that runs semantic search against it every time I start a session. Three compression levels depending on how agressive I want to be.

Level two is the default. 76% fewer tokens. Costs nothing.

When I said I wanted to move my enviorment so the AI could see all my files and topics. This is what I ment. I just didnt know how to build it yet.

Thats the jouney right now.

Not knowing what somethings called. Building it anyway. Figuring out the name after.
